Orr Park & Tinglewood Trail

A 40-acre city park home to Tim Tingle's famous tree carvings — over 50 hand-carved sculptures of gnomes, dragons, and mythical creatures along Shoal Creek.

Orr Park is Montevallo’s crown jewel — a beloved 40-acre green space along the banks of scenic Shoal Creek. The park gained international attention for Tinglewood, an extraordinary collection of tree carvings created by local artist Tim Tingle beginning in 1993.

The Tinglewood Carvings

Rather than remove dead or dying trees, Tingle transformed them into over 50 detailed sculptures depicting gnomes, wizards, dragons, animals, and faces that seem to watch you as you walk the trails. Each carving is unique and full of personality, making every visit a treasure hunt. Tingle began his work in the park in 1993 and has continued adding new pieces over the decades, ensuring there is always something new to discover.
