The Montevallo Parks & Recreation Department manages the city’s parks, green spaces, recreational facilities, youth sports programs, and outdoor infrastructure — providing residents and visitors with outstanding opportunities for outdoor activity and community recreation.
Parks Managed
Orr Park (277 Park Drive)
Montevallo’s flagship 40-acre green space and home to the famous Tinglewood tree carvings. Features baseball and softball fields, a football field, playgrounds, picnic areas, and walking trails along Shoal Creek.
Shoal Creek Park
A 167-acre scenic estate with over 9 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, creek crossings, a pavilion, restroom facilities, and over 150 documented bird species. A designated stop on the Alabama Birding Trail.
George Dailey Park
A neighborhood park serving the residential community with recreational facilities and open green space.
Programs and Services
- Youth sports leagues — organized athletics for children and teens including baseball, softball, football, and more
- Bike share program — connecting residents and university community to Montevallo’s parks and trails
- Trail maintenance — ongoing upkeep of hiking and biking trails across the city’s parks
- Pavilion and facility rentals — group reservation of covered pavilions for events and gatherings
