Montevallo Fire & Rescue Service
The Montevallo Fire & Rescue Service protects the lives, property, and safety of Montevallo’s residents, businesses, and the University of Montevallo community. With roots dating to 1927, the department has evolved from its volunteer origins into a professional fire and emergency services operation serving a community of approximately 8,000 people.
History
The Montevallo Fire Department was established in 1927, initially as a volunteer fire department — a model common to Alabama communities of its size in that era. Over the decades, as Montevallo grew and fire suppression technology and standards advanced, the department professionalized while retaining the community-service ethos of its volunteer founding.
