Tinglewood Festival
Annual celebration of Tim Tingle's famous tree carvings at Orr Park, featuring arts, music, food, and family fun on the first Saturday in September.
The Tinglewood Festival is an annual celebration held on the first Saturday in September at Orr Park — the home of Tim Tingle’s world-famous collection of hand-carved tree sculptures. What began as a local event has grown into a regional draw, bringing visitors from across the Southeast who come to celebrate art, nature, and the creative spirit that defines Montevallo.
Celebrating the Carvings
The festival takes its name and its inspiration from Tinglewood — the extraordinary collection of over 50 carved tree sculptures that Tim Tingle has created in Orr Park since 1993. Rather than remove dead or dying trees, Tingle transforms them into gnomes, wizards, dragons, animals, and faces that inhabit the park’s trails like permanent residents. The festival celebrates this living artwork and the artist who created it.
What’s at the Festival
The Tinglewood Festival is a full-day family event featuring:
- Live music — local and regional acts performing throughout the day
- Art vendors — handmade crafts, paintings, and artisanal goods from regional artists
- Food vendors — a wide selection of festival food and local favorites
- Children’s activities — interactive events and creative activities for kids
- Guided walks — opportunities to tour the Tinglewood carvings with context and storytelling
