National Night Out

Community safety event organized by Montevallo Police Department with free food, activities, and neighborhood fellowship.

National Night Out is Montevallo’s annual community safety gathering — an evening event organized by the Montevallo Police Department that brings residents together with law enforcement in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

What to Expect

The event is centered on building relationships:

  • Complimentary hot dog meal — a free dinner for all attendees
  • Activities — family-friendly programming throughout the evening
  • Meet your neighbors — the event is as much a neighborhood gathering as an organized program
  • Community-police connection — an informal opportunity to meet Montevallo PD officers in a positive setting

Why It Matters

National Night Out is part of a nationwide program designed to strengthen the bonds between communities and the law enforcement agencies that serve them. Montevallo’s participation reflects the Police Department’s commitment to community policing — the understanding that safety is built through relationships, not just enforcement.

By gathering neighbors together and connecting them with officers in a friendly environment, the event promotes both safety awareness and the kind of mutual familiarity that makes a community more resilient.

When

Held annually in early October at the Pecan Grove, 940 Island Street. The 2026 event runs from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on October 6th.
